On Friday, LIV Golf, headquartered in Palm Beach, Florida, announced which nonprofits would receive funding from the company as part of its inaugural tournament in Massachusetts at the International Golf Club in Bolton.
The LIV Golf Invitational Boston wrapped up on Sunday amid support for the tournament and outcry against the company’s Saudi backing.
As part of its mission, LIV Golf created a charitable giving platform called LIV to Give.
Nine Massachusetts charitable organizations will receive donations from LIV related to the tournament:
“This generous donation will have a direct impact on our continuing efforts to protect open space. Our team will expand the environmental component of our Tom Denney Nature Camp by revamping the curriculum, upgrading the facilities, and offering more scholarships for those families in need. We will re-start our Four Winds environmental enrichment program, which was taught in the K-5 elementary classrooms and brings a very hands-on environmental experience back to hundreds of young students,” said Dan Gaffney, Bolton Conservation Trust president, in a Friday press release.
The amounts of the donations were not released.
LIV to Give also hosted two free golf clinics, one for youths, and one for veterans.
LIV Golf is a subsidiary of LIV Golf Investments of London. The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund is LIV Golf Investment’s majority shareholder.
