Central Massachusetts’ business confidence was 56.3 in November, a little below the state average, according to Associated Industries of Massachusetts’ Business Confidence Index, which featured a regional reading for Central Massachusetts for the first time.
The state average was 57.9 in November, a drop from October’s 58.4. Confidence had been rising through the summer, but took a three-point dip in August and has been decreasing incrementally every month since. November’s figure was 8.6% higher than the previous year, according to AIM’s report.
Calculated on a 100 point scale, any score over 50 is considered positive. The highest recorded score is 68.5, and July’s score was 65.6.
The Central Massachusetts regional reading was developed in partnership with AIM and the Worcester Regional Chamber of Commerce. Additional regional reading projects are underway with the Springfield Regional Chamber of Commerce and the North Shore Chamber of Commerce.
