Central Mass. behavioral health providers win grants

L.U.K. Crisis Center in Fitchburg, Multicultural Wellness Center in Worcester and Spectrum Health Systems have received nearly $150,000 from

MeHI, the Massachusetts eHealth Institute at the Massachusetts Technology Collaborative (MassTech).

L.UK. and Multicultural Wellness each received $33,000 while Worcester-based Spectrum received $82,500.

The three are among 18 nonprofits across the state awarded the grants in the first round of MeHI’s eQuality Incentive Program.

The money is aimed at improving the providers’ technology systems that are tied to delivering care. A statement Thursday from MassTech said the 18 grants, which total nearly $1 million, will help providers “improve patient care and reduce healthcare costs, while ensuring appropriate privacy and security of behavioral health patient data.”

“The behavioral health organizations the commonwealth is investing in with this grant program have chosen to lead the way in using technology to help provide integrated, high quality care to some of our most vulnerable residents,” Laurance Stuntz, director of MeHI, said in the statement.”
