Census Provides School Facts

Keep in mind that $7.6 billion was spent at family clothing stores in August 2008 when retailers begin reporting sales results for the month.
With the school year beginning soon across the country, the U.S. Census Bureau has released a variety of school-related facts, including clothing sales for August.
The bureau also reported that 19 million students are projected to be enrolled in the country's colleges this fall. Fifteen percent of them are over 35 years old.
Six percent of children between the ages of six and 11 had repeated a grade as of 2006, the bureau said. The bureau also said 10.9 million school-age children speak a language other than English at home, and 7.9 million of them speak Spanish.
