The Massachusetts Cannabis Control Commission on Tuesday renewed its order allowing telehealth consultations for medical cannabis patients, extending the policy begun at the start of the COVID pandemic.
“The Executive Director, acting on behalf of the Commission, has determined that the requirement that a Provider [sic] conduct a Clinical Visit [sic] for issuing an initial Certificate of Registration to a Qualifying Patient… in person … would cause undue hardship to Providers and Patients by increasing the risk of their exposure to COVID-19,” the order reads.
The policy has been in place since March 20, 2020. Providers registering patients with the state’s medical cannabis program for the first time will need to submit a waiver request to the commission.
Separately, the CCC extended its order allowing medical dispensaries to provide curbside service options for medical patients.
Both orders were extended until June 30.
