Catholic Charities has picked a long-time government official and the former chief operating officer of the Mass Lottery Commission as the new executive director of Catholic Charities Worcester County.
Timothy McMahon will succeed Catherine Loeffler, who left in August 2016 after 25 years in the position, according to the Catholic Charities announcement Thursday. Judy Zeh had served as executive director since August.
A native of Worcester, McMahon most recently was the associate director for Rhode Island Department of Human Services. Prior to that, he served as undersecretary for administration in the Executive Office of Labor and Workforce Development in Massachusetts, deputy commissioner for the Massachusetts Department of Industrial Accidents, chief operating officer for the Mass Lottery Commission and various positions at UMass Medical School.
He lives in Holden, serves on the board for Worcester nonprofit YOU, Inc. and is a member of St. Mary Parish in Jefferson.
