Caterer buys Harvard event space for $2.2M

The owners of Friendly Crossways in Harvard have sold their property at 247 Littleton County Road and a neighboring lot in Harvard for $2.2 million.

The buyer is an entity registered to William Ference, the owner of William Ference Catering in Boston, according to the Worcester District Registry of Deeds.

The combined properties are almost 25 acres and are assessed by the Town of Harvard at just over $1.3 million. The land sale closed on Wednesday.

Friendly Crossways is a family-run event venue, retreat center, and hostel dating back to 1947. Mary Helan Turner grew up at Friendly Crossways and took over the space in 1996 when her parents retired, according to the company website.

The new owner will carry on the legacy of the location as an event space, Turner told WBJ via email on Monday.
