Carbon Auction Process Begins

The process to qualify for the first Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative Inc. carbon allowance auction begins today.
The auction is the work of 10 states, including Massachusetts, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Vermont and Maine, as well as several mid-Atlantic states. The states have designed a cap-and-trade program to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
The auction of carbon allowances will generate investment in energy efficiency and renewable energy in the RGGI states.
