The owner of the Lundgren automotive company has bought a vacant commercial building on Route 20 in Auburn for $2.2 million.

The site at 240 Washington St. is the former home of Northeast Battery & Alternator Inc., which relocated to Pullman Street in Worcester.

Barry Lundgren bought the site with a property trust from a limited liability company registered to Thomas Scarduzio of Falmouth, who runs Northeast Battery. Lundgren couldn't be reached for comment through Lundgren Honda of Auburn. The sale closed May 22.

The Honda dealership at 163 Washington St. is about three-fourths of a mile from the old Northeast Battery site. Lundgren is also building a new collision repair center at 117 Washington St. in Auburn.

The site at 240 Washington St. last sold on the open market in 1994 for $700,000. It was last assessed by the Town of Auburn at just under $1.2 million. It includes a 20,000-square-foot building on 2 acres.
