Across industries, big companies in North America and Europe see commoditization, or more competition for what they offer, as the biggest threat but aren't worried much at all about access to capital.
That's according to a survey by Cambridge-based competitive intelligence firm Fuld & Co., which surveyed 144 senior executives, strategists and analysts who look at industry competition from large companies.
Among the threats that Fuld & Co. grouped under commoditization are disruptive technology, substitute products or services, overseas competition and price pressure from customers. Commoditization was picked as the biggest threat by companies in industries including insurance, technology/telecommunications, pharmaceuticals/healthcare and financial services.
Access to credit was not mentioned by any of the respondents, and respondents in all but one industry picked it last out of seven choices offered as business concerns.
