Marijuana testing company Evio Labs is moving its facility from Southborough to Framingham.
The company did not detail why it was moving in a Tuesday announcement, but Southborough voted to ban recreational pot facilities in April 2017.
The Oregon-based company said in August it had applied to the Cannabis Control Commission for a recreational cannabis testing license, but did not specify for which town.
On Tuesday, Evio Labs said it has entered into a host community agreement with Framingham. A copy of the agreement indicates the document was signed on July 31. Space in an office building on Speen Street has been secured, according to the document.
In a statement, Evio labs COO Lori Glauser said about 80 marijuana establishments are awaiting licenses from the CCC.
“We are scaling up operations considerably to meet the coming adult-use demand for cannabis by year-end,” she said. “We expect to be one of just three or four operating labs and are actively hiring for all positions in the lab.”
In a May interview with WBJ, Glauser said the company expects to triple its workforce in the state within the next year.
