Cannabis commissioners will huddle Friday to regroup after their preferred candidate to fill the executive director job that's been vacant for a year backed out once the job was offered.
The 2 p.m. virtual meeting is a chance for the Cannabis Control Commission to get an "Executive Director Search Update" and have a "Candidate Discussion," according to the meeting agenda.
After a months-long process that ran well beyond its initial timeline, CCC members voted on Oct. 28 to select David Lakeman as their pick for the next executive director and to begin contract negotiations. Commissioners also interviewed Holliston Town Administrator Travis Ahern, CCC government affairs official Matt Giancola and Cityblock Health senior director of clinical staff affairs Marty Golightly for the job, and commissioners
Chief People Officer Debra Hilton-Creek has been serving as acting executive director but has also made clear she is ready to surrender her extra job responsibilities.
"I don't think anybody's as excited as I am about this, having a new ED," Hilton-Creek said the day the CCC chose Lakeman for the job.
