A California provider of packaging, supplies, vaporizers and other products for the regulated marijuana industry has opened a new warehouse in Worcester.
Kush Bottles, Inc. said Tuesday the 66,000-square-foot facility is the largest in the company’s portfolio of warehouses. The company did not immediately disclose the exact location of the facility.
The new location strategically positions the company to tap into the regulated market in the Northeast with Massachusetts, Maine, Maryland, Rhode Island, Vermont, New Jersey and New York all making progress toward legalization of some form. Recreational and medical marijuana are both already legal in Massachusetts
In a statement, CEO Nick Kovacevich said the company’s West Coast operations have been successful in embedding itself with mutli-state cannabis operators.
“This effort has led to our position as a leader in the ancillary space with these businesses in these markets,” Kovacevich said. “We expect the Northeast to replicate that trend, and that’s why Kush Bottles has invested in this facility and our key personnel in the greater Northeast region; to be the first mover and a dominating player supporting the growth that is on the near horizon.
Kovacevich said the population density of the region is particularly appealing, as are the early consumer demand reports for adult-use cannabis, which is expected to launch any day in Massachusetts.
“We are now the first ancillary provider to make a large investment in the Northeast United States, ahead of what we expect will become a booming region for cannabis and CBD sales,” he said.
The publicly-traded company serves more than 5,000 medical and recreational dispensaries across the world. Last month, the company reported third-quarter revenues of $12.9 million, an increase of 173 percent over last year, but a net loss of $2.16 million.
