A cannabis cultivation company paid $1.5 million for a 42,000-square-foot facility at 14 South Pleasant St. in Ashburnham, according to the North Worcester County Registry of Deeds.
Registered to a Haverhill address as Evokanna Labs, LLC, the company has submitted applications for marijuana cultivation and manufacturing, according to records from the Cannabis Control Commission.
Evokanna will only cultivate cannabis and not include a retail dispensary, according to a presentation filed from a community outreach meeting in December 2019. The facility will include a 20,000-square-foot canopy cultivation, yielding 9,000 pounds of cannabis per year.
Evokanna's Ashburnham site will eventually create 25 to 40 jobs, according to the December presentation.
Assessed in 2021 by the Town of Ashburnham at just over $1 million, the property was formerly a location of Shaker Workshops, which produced recreations of Shaker furniture.
The sale closed July 30.
