Canadian leisurewear company Roots is opening two new stores, both of which will be the first in Massachusetts, including one in the Natick Mall.
Roots, a publicly traded Toronto company, will open the 4,000-square-foot store in The Natick Mall in June, the company announced Thursday.
The store will offer the company’s sweatsuits, as well as leather bags, awards jackets, a heritage wall and customer lounge, Roots announced. The company called the two-story, 1.8 million-square-foot mall with more than 250 stores the destination of choice for shopping, entertainment and dining in the Greater Boston area.
The Natick store will be just the fifth Roots location in the U.S. Currently, the company operates 116 stores in Canada, 109 partner-operated stores in Taiwan and 29 partner-operated stores in China.
The company is also planning a store at shopping center MarketStreet in Lynnfield.
In a statement, Roots President and CEO Jim Gabel said the company is planning for 10 to 14 new stores in the U.S. by the end of 2019.
“Our inclusive lifestyle brand, with legendary feeling apparel, leather goods, footwear and accessories, is an excellent fit for the U.S., particularly in New England, and the mid-Atlantic and Midwest regions.,” Gabel said.
