The site of The Tobin School, a private preschool and kindergarten in Natick, has been sold for $2.75 million to a childcare provider based in Canada.
Two properties utilized by the school, 71 and 73 Cottage St., were sold in a deal finalized on Tuesday, according to Middlesex South Registry of Deeds records. The properties were sold to KIDCO LTD, an entity managed by Kids & Company.
Kids & Company is an Ontario-based business operating more than 150 childcare facilities in six U.S. states and five Canadian provinces, according to its website. The company operates 17 locations in Massachusetts, none of which are in Central Massachusetts or MetroWest.
Neither Kids & Company nor the Tobin School responded to WBJ requests for comments regarding the sale. The $2.75-million sale was strictly for the property hosting The Tobin School, which is a transaction recorded publicly by the registry of deeds. The school may or may not have been sold, as that would be a private transaction.
Kids & Company expands its footprint through both new locations and acquisitions of existing facilities, seeking childcare facility operators who are looking to exit the business, according to a page on the Kids & Company’s website aimed at potential sellers.
The Tobin School operates an early education and care center for infants through pre-kindergarteners, an afterschool program, and summer programming for kindergarteners through fourth graders, according to its website. The school was founded in 2004 and now has more than 80 students and 20 faculty members.
The two properties were given a combined assessed value of $2.87 million in 2024, according to Town of Natick property records.
