Caliper Sells Product Lines To Swedish Firm
Hopkinton-based laboratory technology company Caliper Life Sciences Inc. has sold two of its product lines to Biotage AB for $16.5 million in cash.
The company said the sale allows it to focus on its sample preparation and imaging and analysis technology while beefing up its balance sheet. The company also said the sale may be the beginning of a manufacturing, innovation and commercial partnership between it and Biotage.
The sale is expected to close by the end of the month.
Caliper is selling its RapidTrace and TurboVap product lines to Biotage and will continue to manufacture the products for Biotage for three years.
Biotage is an analytical and medical chemistry firm that works with biotech companies and academic institutions. It is based in Sweden.
