Hopkinton-based Caliper Life Sciences Inc. reported a $3.4 million net loss for the third quarter on $32.2 million in revenue.
For the same period a year ago, the company reported a net loss of $5.4 million on revenue of $34 million.
The biotechnology and medical device company reduced its expenses from $38.8 million a year ago to $35.3 million. It ended the quarter with an operating loss of $3.1 million compared to $4.8 million last year.
Caliper expects to end the year with revenue between $127 million and $129 million, an increase of between 5 percent and 7 percent over 2008.
