Hopkinton’s Caliper Life Sciences has received an extra $2.9 million from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency to study the toxicity of chemicals in the environment.
The grant continuation brings the total funding for Caliper from the EPA to $4.7 million.
Caliper is using tests that have traditionally been used in pharmaceutical and drug discovery arenas to identify the toxicity of chemicals and how they would impact the environment, humans and animals.
The ToxCas program is being run through Caliper’s Discovery Alliances and Services unit.
