Marlborough-based Butler Home Products has acquired garment and cleaning care businesses in Georgia.
Butler, a cleaning tools company, closed on the purchase of oneCARE’s lint roller, garment care and cleaning tool businesses on Jan 21. These product lines employ a combined 30 to 40. Butler spokesman Michael Silverman declined to disclose the purchase price.
“These new businesses will add to our capabilities and allow us to offer more products and brands to our U.S. and Canadian retail partners,” Butler President Rob Michelson said in a statement.
Those brands include Evercare, which Butler said is one of North America’s leading lint rollers.
Butler plans to create roughly three to five new office-help positions in Massachusetts as a result of the acquisition, likely resulting in the loss of a few oneCARE jobs in Georgia, Silverman said.
Butler had been in talks about buying the oneCARE businesses for at least past six months, Silverman said. About half of oneCARE’s product lines were sold to Butler, with the remaining lines – oriented around household chemicals – sold to a different company.
