Nuestra, chef Natalie Rodriguez’s Puerto Rican restaurant located in Worcester’s historic Bull Mansion, will close for good on Saturday.
The restaurant opened on Stafford Street in Worcester in January 2020, immediately before the coronavirus pandemic wreaked havoc on the restaurant world. Nuestra shut down during the early phases of the pandemic and then reopened in the Bull Mansion in Worcester’s downtown.
Even though Rodriguez’s restaurant survived the pandemic, the eatery announced on Thursday in a Facebook post it would be closing.
“We are proud to have showcased a glimpse of our culture to so many and that even included Grammy artist Gilberto Santa Rosa, who provided us with glowing reviews,” wrote Rodriguez on Facebook. “Our journey has been filled with unforgettable moments, and we have had the privilege of welcoming and serving people from all over. The memories we have created together will forever hold a special place in our hearts. Special thanks to the staff who have created a family bond like no other.”
The Worcester social media website The016.com first reported the story of the restaurant closing.
The business will carry on, offering catering services, according to the Facebook post. Upcoming catered events at Bull Mansion will carry on as planned.
Rodriguez wrote in a 2022 column for WBJ, “I have always lived by the motto, ‘Everything happens for a reason.’ I may not always know the reason, but I have learned to take things in stride and roll with the punches. These detours can put you in rooms you never imagined. They can give you conversations with people you thought were out of reach and even open up doors that you never knew had a key!”
The chef and entrepreneur was named to WBJ’s 40 Under Forty Class of 2022.
