BSX Site To Become FedEx Building

Boston Scientific Corp. has sold 8 acres of property near its Natick headquarters, netting $15.3 million for it, according to the state’s Registry of Deeds.

Scannell Properties of Indianapolis purchased the site Nov. 1. In an email, James Carlino, general counsel at Scannell, said the firm plans to redevelop it into a 173,000-square-foot package distribution facility for FedEx Corp.

According to Scannell’s website, the company is the largest developer of FedEx facilities in the United States. Carlino said the new FedEx location is expected to be completed in May, but declined to disclose the project’s cost. He said the site was chosen for a variety of reasons, including its ideal size for the intended operations and proximity to transportation infrastructure.

Details of the property on Natick’s town assessor’s website show it as having a 227,438-square-foot building, divided into two warehouse spaces and an office. BSX Spokesman Steven Campanini said the building is a warehouse that was going unused by the company.
