Natick-based Boston Scientific Corp. has received approval from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for a new drug-eluding stent system and is launching it in the U.S.
BSX said the system is already sold elsewhere in the world. It received approval from the CE Mark system, which is recognized in much of Europe, in May 2010.
The system uses a platinum chromium alloy designed for coronary stenting. It is used in the treatment of coronary artery disease.
