BSX Declares Victory In J&J Case

Medical device maker Boston Scientific Corp. of Natick says a federal district court has entered a judgment in its favor in a patent lawsuit brought by Johnson & Johnson.

The 2008 suit involved allegations that a stent made by BSX infringed two Johnson & Johnson patents.

In the new ruling, BSX said the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey found that the patents are invalid.

“We are pleased with the Court’s finding that both of these Johnson & Johnson patents are invalid,” Tim Pratt, executive vice president for BSX, said in a statement. “Boston Scientific will continue to vigorously defend against any claims of infringement.”
