The ownership behind Worcester taco spot Pepe's Taqueria now owns the site of the restaurant, after purchasing it and an adjacent retail parcel for a combined $1.98 million.
Two separate entities managed by Pepe’s Taqueria co-owners Gerardo “Jerry” Cazares and José “Pepe” Cazares, purchased the properties at 645 Chandler St. and 647-649 Chandler St. in separate deals finalized on Friday, according to Worcester District Registry of Deeds.
The entity managed by Gerardo purchased the property at 645 Chandler St., a property containing a two-story building, with the restaurant on the first floor and offices above. The 7,974-square-foot building was constructed in 1975 and sits on a .4-acre lot, according to City of Worcester property records.
José’s entity purchased 647-649 Chandler St., which contains a single-story retail building and a rear parking lot. The 7,944-square-foot building dates back to 1930 and sits on a roughly quarter-acre lot.
Tatnuck Tattoo Shop and The Banh Mi Place are tenants at the retail site, according to Google Maps.
Both sites were purchased from the E&E Realty Trust of Worcester.
Pepe’s has operated in Worcester since 2019, according to Worcester Magazine, serving tacos and other Mexican dishes. They are the sons of the late Maria Cazeres, the founder of El Patron Mexican Restaurant at 192 Harding St. Maria Cazeres passed away in 2024, according to an obituary.
The property at 645 Chandler St. received a 2026 tax assessment value of $872,400, while 647-649 received a tax assessment value of $876,200, according to municipal property records.
