The Briarwood Continuing Care Retirement Community in Worcester has named Andrew Freilich as its new executive director.
Previously, Freilich spent more than 16 years at Milford-based SALMON Health and Retirement, working first as an executive director at Willows of Worcester before assuming the same role at the Willows and Whitney Place at Medway, according to the June 6 announcement from Boston senior living nonprofit Rogerson Communities, the management company for Briarwood. The parent company for the center is Salem Community Corp.
Worcester’s Briarwood is one of 28 residential properties under Rogerson’s management. The company offers a wide variety of facilities for senior care, including affordable independent housing, moderate and market-rate senior living communities, assisted living and memory care, rest homes, and skilled nursing facilities, as well as adult day health programs.
“Andrew brings strong leadership skills to Rogerson’s team and a deep understanding of the Worcester community,” Rogerson President and CEO Walter Ramos said in a written statement. “He shares Rogerson’s mission to provide quality housing for elders, a caring community where elders can live with dignity and access great health care.”
Freilich is a certified dementia practitioner and holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Northeastern University in Boston.
CORRECTION: A previous version of this article incorrectly said Rogerson Communities is the parent company of Briarwood Continuing Care Retirement Community. Rogerson is the management company while Salem Community Corp. is the parent company.
