Lightower Fiber Networks has acquired Chicago data center provider ColocationZone, the Boxborough-based company said Wednesday.
ColocationZone, located in the 725 South Wells data center in downtown Chicago, offers data center space and access to nine telecommunications carriers, in addition to connectivity on Lightower's all-fiber network. Lightower will also be taking over the Meet Me Room for the entire 725 South Wells facility, owned by Digital Capital Partners.
The acquisition follows an expansion last year of Lightowers’ network throughout Chicago.
"ColocationZone's facility in the downtown business district is a great fit for Lightower as we continue to expand in, and invest in, the Chicago market," stated Lightower CEO and President Rob Shanahan.
Lightower Fiber Networks provides all-fiber, high-capacity network services over 20,000 route miles of network. Its network provides access to more than 8,500 service locations in the Northeast, Mid-Atlantic and Chicago.
