The Town of Boxborough, working with the Sudbury Valley Trustees and the Boxborough Conservation Trust, purchased 95 & 105 Sargent Road in Boxborough, for $1.25 million.
Sudbury Valley Trustees was the buyer in the deal for the 23-acre property, which closed on Oct. 25, according to the Middlesex South Registry of Deeds.
Ownership will most likely be transferred to the Town within four months, according to Rita Gibes Grossman, president of Boxborough Conservation Trust. SVT agreed to be the interim owner so the Town could apply for a $400,000 Local Acquisition for Natural Diversity grant from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, which was awarded.
The purchase of the land was approved by the Town of Boxborough in a May town meeting.
Boxborough Conservation Trust raised $242,000 for the project, including grants from the Bafflin Foundation of Providence, the Fields Pond Foundation of Waltham, and from Arranta Bio of Watertown.
The seller was Phyllis E. Campbell Trust.
The Town purchased 6.7 acres of abutting land at 95 Rear Sargent Road from the Boston and Maine Railroad in 2001, according to the Middlesex South Registry of Deeds.
