Robert Cox, managing partner of Worcester law firm Bowditch & Dewey LLP, has been elected chairman of the Worcester Regional Chamber of Commerce.
His two-year term begins in January.
As chairman, Cox will lead the chamber’s 2,100 members in 35 cities and towns in Central Massachusetts. He succeeds Kate Sharry, the head of Northeast regional operations for Illinois insurance firm Arthur J. Gallagher & Co. Sharry was the third woman ever to lead the chamber board.
Timothy Murray, president and CEO of the Worcester chamber, said Cox’s knowledge of Greater Worcester and deep roots in the community will provide guidance on the group’s mission and day-to-day operations.
Other chamber officers for 2020 include vice chair Christine Cassidy, chief communications officer, Fallon Health; Treasurer Satya Mitra, president and CEO, Guru Tax & Financial Services; and Clerk Eric Torkornoo, vice president, TD Bank.
