Boston Scientific to be paid $20M in spinal cord tech settlement

Michael F. Mahoney, chairman & CEO of Boston Scientific

Marlborough manufacturer Boston Scientific Corp. is expected to receive a $20-million payment from California medical device firm Nevro Corp. for patent infringement, according to a Monday press release from Nevro.

A Delaware jury found Nevro had infringed on two of Boston Scientific’s patents related to manufacturing of spinal cord stimulation technology.

Two other Boston Scientific patents were found to not be infringed.

The Marlborough company also reached a patent settlement on Oct. 20 with Micro-Tech Endoscopy of Michigan, in which Boston Scientific will grant a royalty-bearing license for five years on its patented hemostasis clip technology, according to a separate release on Oct. 20.
