Boston Scientific has alerted the state it plans to lay off 85 workers at a site in Burlington later this year.
The Marlborough medical device company disclosed the plans on Friday as required under the state’s Worker Adjustment and Retraining Act for larger-scale layoffs.
Boston Scientific said the job cuts will be effective from late September through December.
Boston Scientific didn’t disclose more details, but it gained a foothold in Burlington in 2016 when it bought Cosman Medical, a privately held manufacturer of radiofrequency ablation systems as part of Boston Scientific’s expansion into non-opioid pain medication treatments.
The planned layoffs come as Boston Scientific has been on a buying spree this year, including California-based Claret Medical for up to $270 million and California-based Cryterion Medical for $202 million.
Last week, the company reported a $555 million profit and nearly $2.5 billion in sales for the second quarter.
