Natick-based medical device maker Boston Scientific Corp. said it has launched a “steerable sheath” in the United States market.
The so-called Z Flex-270 is intended for use in electrophysiology procedures to facilitate the introduction and placement of catheters within the heart, including in difficult-to-reach areas, the company said.
The catheters are used in the treatment of atrial fibrillation, which affects 15 million people worldwide, and other complex arrhythmias.
