Marlborough's Boston Scientific and Worcester's Hanover Insurance Group are among 767 companies nationwide lauded for LGBTQ equality.
Also making the list was AbbVie, which is based in the Chicago area but has a major presence in Worcester, and Unum Group, a Tennessee-based insurer that has several hundred office workers working remotely in the Worcester area.
The Washington, D.C.,-based Human Rights Campaign's 2021 list of the most LGBTQ-friendly workplaces nationally also included a few other major Massachusetts corporations: State Street Corp., MassMutual, Boston Consulting Group, Dunkin' Brands, Eastern Bank, Iron Mountain, Harvard Pilgrim Health Care, and Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts.
The Human Rights Campaign said the 767 companies making this year's list was by far its most ever, up 12% from a year ago. The list is based on surveys about companies' policies and practices related to LGBTQ workplace equality. All 767 businesses on the list achieved the campaign's top score, and 94% of Fortune 500 companies include gender identity protections in their nondiscrimination policies, the group said.
