Marlborough-based Boston Scientific and Boston-based GE Healthcare have announced a partnership to bring greater cardiovascular care to citizens of Southeast Asia.
The two companies will collaborate in southeast Asia, where both companies have a presence, for the first time, in order to improve both heart condition diagnostics as well as interventional treatments for cardiac-related issues.
As part of the collaboration, GE Healthcare will provide the necessary imaging software, while Boston Scientific will provide the heart-focused medical devices that are a key component of the company’s international product line.
“Bridging the industry gap in providing an end-to-end cardiac care center for healthcare providers, this partnership will see the integration of cardiac care solutions, from cath labs to intravascular ultrasound, serving as a comprehensive portfolio for heart surgeons,” said Chris Khang, president and CEO of GE Healthcare’s Southeast Asia business, in a press release statement. “These solutions will be crucial in unlocking the potential of interventional cardiology and is a step forward in delivering precision health to the region.”
The announcement comes during a time where GE Healthcare is preparing to spin off to become its own company, breaking off from its parent company General Electric. GE Healthcare alone brought in $18 billion in global revenue last year, more than Boston Scientific’s $12 billion.
