Patients who use Boston Scientific Corp. ‘s implanted heart devices could soon be safe inside MRI machines.
The Natick company reached a licensing and development agreement with Baltimore-based Surgi-Vision Inc. and the two companies plan to put Surgi-Vision’s MRI-safe technology to work in Boston Scientific’s heart devices. Under the agreement, Boston Scientific will obtain a license for Surgi-Vision’s intellectual property.
According to Boston Scientific, MRI-safe heart rhythm management devices have been singled out by physicians as an unmet need.
