Westborough-based Boston-Power Inc. said its lithium-ion battery cells will be used in a new HP “entertainment” notebook computer.
Boston-Power’s Sonata battery cells are used in the HP Long Life batteries that come with the new Pavilion dv8 notebook, which includes an 18.4-inch screen, a built-in TV tuner, a Blu-ray disc reader and a subwoofer.
The Boston-Power batteries are expected to support more than 1,000 recharges. HP began offering the Boston-Power batteries in notebook PCs in March. The company’s batteries are compatible with 70 percent of HP notebook PCs.
