Boston insurance company to acquire Westborough, Auburn firm

Boston-based Safety Insurance Group Inc. announced Thursday its intention to acquire Northeast-MetroWest Insurance Agency, which has offices in Westborough and Auburn.
The deal is expected to be completed sometime in the fourth quarter of 2022. Financial terms were not disclosed.
Northeast-MetroWest provides personal and commercial insurance and, according to a press release on Thursday, has more than $40 million in policy premiums.
After the acquisition it will operate as its own business under Safety’s holding company. Its employees will become employees of the Safety subsidiary.
Northeast-MetroWest has additional offices in Falmouth and Needham.
