Bose, Volvo partner on EV sound system

Bose Corp. and Volvo Cars announced the Framingham company’s first-ever sound system for the Swedish multinational car manufacturer.

The new sound system will go in Volvo’s new electric Volvo EX90 and is the first in a new collaboration between the two companies, according to a joint Dec. 20 press release.

Engineers for Bose and Volvo worked to customize the sound system for the new stereo system using a software-enabled tuning approach to have the whole system tuned together. Instead of tuning each speaker in the car, the new Bose system will work as a whole.

Bose, which was founded in 1964, has had an automotive system division for more than 40 years. Bose created the first factory-installed automotive sound system and began to build specific stereo systems designed for specific vehicles.
