Bolton-based Intrinsic Imaging, a provider of medical imaging lab services, has been acquired by WCG of Princeton, N.J.
Moving forward, Intrinsic Imaging will be known as WCG Intrinsic Imaging, according to the Monday release from WCG. The organization will retain its leadership structure and continue to operate from its Bolton headquarters.
According to WCG, the acquisition was made because more pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and medical device companies are making use of imaging technologies in clinical trials.
"The growing need to visually demonstrate safety and efficacy to regulators, patients, providers, payers and other research stakeholders is driving the increasingly critical role medical imaging is playing in clinical trials," Donald Deieso, executive chairman and CEO of WCG, said in a release.
The financial details of the acquisition were not released.
