Bocado Tapas Wine Bar is set to expand into the property next to the Worcester restaurant, including by adding a patio, following the approval from the Worcester License Commission.
Michael Covino, president of Bocado’s parent company Niche Hospitality Group, told the commission at its July 13th meeting the Canal District eatery will connect the restaurant to the former Harry Heitin Auto Radiator garage to expand the premises by 2,500 square feet and will build a 750 square-foot enclosed patio.
Bocado purchased the neighboring garage in September, after the 70-year-old business closed in August.
Covino did not immediately return a request Tuesday for further information, including an anticipated schedule to open the new addition.
Niche Hospitality Group is the company behind popular Central Massachusetts restaurants Bocado in Worcester, Leominster, and Wellesley; The Fix Burger Bar in Worcester, Leominster, and Marlborough; and Mezcal Tequila Cantina in Worcester.
