Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts announced Wednesday it is expanding its mental health provider network in the state to include additional specialists.
The new specialists will be expanding on the company’s areas of mental health treatment, including new sub-specialty partnerships for obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD) and substance use disorder (SUD).
"We're taking action to support our members at a time when the need for mental health services has never been greater," said Andrew Dreyfus, Blue Cross' president and CEO, in a press release. "Research by our foundation shows that many people who need mental health care struggle to find it, so we're working hard to expand our network and help members find effective, affordable, convenient care when they need it."
In the release, Blue Cross said it was enhancing its provider network by contracting with several primary mental health providers. These providers include the likes of Thriveworks, Headway, Refresh Mental Health and Valera Health.
For the sub-specialty partnerships, Blue Cross is forming additional contracts with several specialty mental health provider organizations that provide care for specific conditions such as OCD and SUD. These providers include NOCD and Forge Health.
Blue Cross announced in the future, it was planning on additional partnerships with providers in other mental health issues such as eating disorders and LGBTQ+ issues.
