BJ’s Wholesale Club, a membership-based warehouse retailer based in Westborough, will close on Thanksgiving this year, reopening at 7 a.m. on Black Friday, the company announced Tuesday.
The closure bucks a trend wherein many major retailers opt to open in the evening on the Thanksgiving holiday. BJ’s framed the decision as intended to allow their employees to rest and spend time with their family and friends.
“We continue the tradition this year by closing our doors on Thursday, November 25 to show our incredible appreciation for our team members’ hard work and dedication, especially during a challenging year like this one,” said Jeff Desroches, executive vice president and chief operations officer, in a statement.
