Natick-based BJ’s Wholesale Club exceeded its earnings estimates in the first quarter with revenues increasing 10 percent year-over-year to $2.8 billion.
Profits for the company were up more than 25 percent to $33.6 million.
Comparable store sales were up 6.3 percent while food sales were up 4 percent compared to last year and were up 16 percent compared to two years ago. Gas sales were up 3.9 percent. The Southeast United States provided the largest increase in comparable store sales, with revenues up 11.6 percent in that region.
