BJ’s Wholesale Club announced Wednesday the hire of new position to focus on digital commerce, signaling a shift toward online sales.
The Westborough-based wholesale grocer and retailer announced the hire of Naveen Seshadri to fill the newly-created position of vice president of digital commerce and experience. He joins the company from Australia travel book publisher Lonely Planet, where he was chief operating officer and responsible for leading the company’s digital transformation.
In his new role at BJ’s, Seshadri will work on BJ’s expansion of its omnichannel capabilities. He will lead the company’s efforts to improve its digital customer experience strategy, e-commerce merchandising and digital marketing.
Last May, the company announced two digitally-focused hires to its management team.
In a statement, one of those hires, Senior Vice President and Chief Digital Officer Rafeed Masood, said the company has made significant advancements in its digital capabilities.
Seshadri "has extensive experience in driving omnichannel transformations and his leadership will help as we work to deliver more to our members,” Masood said.
