After entering positive territory in May, business confidence is up again in June, according to the Associated Industries of Massachusetts.
The AIM Business Confidence Index hit 53.7 in June, up from 51.5 in May. The May score represented the first time in more than two years that the index had risen above the midpoint of 50.
The index bottomed out at 33.3 in February 2009. Since then, it has risen in 14 out of 16 months.
In the latest survey, the current index, dealing with overall conditions right now, stood at 51.3, while the future index, predicting conditions in six months, hit 56.1.
Still, only 10 percent of businesses responding to AIM's survey said they think the recession is definitely over. More than two thirds said it's not over yet, although conditions do seem to be improving.
