The Associated Industries of Massachusetts Business Confidence Index fell to a new low in February.
The index dropped 3.4 points to 33.3, three points below December’s previous record low score. The index is based on a 100-point scale, a score of 50 is considered neutral. The index hasn’t scored above 50 since April 2008 when it registered a 50.1.
All but one of the sub-indices that make up the index scored below 40 in February.
AIM said the one “glimmer of hope” is that there is a “faint indication that the economic decline will bottom out within six months.”
