The Worcester-based contract research company Averica Discovery Services announced a collaboration with Worcester Polytechnic Institute's Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry that will allow the two organizations to share expertise on projects.
Founded in 2007, Averica specializes in small molecule analysis and purification, the company said, providing analytical research to a variety of life sciences companies. Joining forces with WPI will help the company grow its services, said Averica President Jeffrey Kiplinger.
"WPI's expertise in solid state chemistry enhances our strengths as we expand our suite of pre-formulation services, and we intend to develop specific research collaborations that will be fruitful for both organizations.
"In Massachusetts, we are fortunate to be located near many world-class academic institutions, and we anticipate establishing additional collaborations going forward," Kiplinger said in a statement.
Arne Gericke, head of the WPI Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry, said the collaboration is an opportunity to continue addressing real-world issues through research.
"Collaborations with innovative companies such as Averica are invaluable for ensuring that our science remains on the cutting edge, while also enabling us to contribute to their growing success," Gericke said in a statement.
