Biostage rebrands by reclaiming former name to reflect regenerative technology

Holliston biotech firm Biostage has rebranded back to its former name, Harvard Apparatus Regenerative Technology.

“We have changed our company name back to Harvard Apparatus Regenerative Technology, Inc. because of its recognition in the biotech industry,” CEO & Chairman Jerry He said in a Thursday press release from the company. “The name change also reflects returning to our scientific roots and our continued focus on regenerative medicine.”

Harvard Apparatus Regenerative Technology will trade on the OTCQB market under the symbol HRGN as of Thursday.

The company was approved for a 10-patient phase one study of its technology that allows a patient to regenerate an esophagus over a scaffold using their own cells. In April, the company announced it had raised $6 million to accelerate its clinical development program. 

Harvard Apparatus Regenerative Technology Is leveraging its technology to pursue age-reversing technology in China, according to the press release.

Harvard Apparatus Regenerative Technology was spun off from Harvard Bioscience in Holliston in 2013 and later changed its name to Biostage.
