Bioscience developer to renovate, expand MetroWest Daily News building

The former MetroWest Daily News building was cleaned out in December shortly after the staff moved to a smaller Framingham office.
A Cambridge-based life sciences facility developer is proposing to renovate and expand the former MetroWest Daily News site in Framingham for several unannounced tenants.
King Street Properties, which purchased the 90,000-square-foot former newsroom and printing facility for $9.3 million last month, is proposing a 9,000-square-foot addition to the front of the 1979 building.
Some details of the project were disclosed in filings with the city’s Conservation Commission, which is scheduled to take up the matter at a March 21 meeting.
Also included are new walkways, stormwater management improvements and new landscaping to “transform the former industrial property into a modern, attractive multi-tenant life science facility.”
The property, located in the Framingham Technology Park on New York Avenue, is flanked by bioscience firm Sanofi Genzyme and tech giant Bose.
Who those life science tenants will be is still unknown, as the filing did not disclose any company names.
According to King Street's website, the company controls 10 large science and laboratory campuses in the Greater Boston area. The Framingham location represents the company's first outside of the I-95 corridor.
The building has been vacant since December, when the shrinking Daily News staff relocated to a smaller office on Speen Street in Framingham.
