A biological anthropologist at U.S. Army Natick Soldier Research, Development and Engineering Center in Natick has received a Presidential Rank Award for Meritorious Senior Professionals.
The award is given to leaders, professionals and scientists who demonstrate ability and commitment to public service.
Nominees are selected by their agency heads, evaluated by boards of private citizens and approved by the president.
Claire C. Gordon was chosen for the award because of her contributions to human engineering anthropometry, helping to represent women and minority groups in data used to design military and civilian equipment and systems.
Gordon has been with the NSRDEC since 1983. She has a bachelor of science in biology from the University of Notre Dame, a master of arts and PhD in biological anthropology from NorthWestern University and a Master of Science in biostatistics from the Harvard School of Public Health.
She and her family live in Sutton.
